Kingdom Amateur Radio Society (KARS) is based near Dunfermline, Fife in Scotland. We do not have a permanent meeting place at the moment but we hope that will change soon. In the meantime KARS does have a popular Facebook page where you will find latest news, items of interest to the amateur radio community and the usual social media chit chat. Highly recommended!
The global pandemic of course impacted on KARS activities greatly. Face to face meetings were off the agenda for some time while the club responded by increasing its focus on those activities that were compatible with COVID-19 regulations.
Our Primary activity utilised one of our strengths – communication and we would meet up three times a week via the airwaves. We continue to get together on 144.750 FM on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 7.00pm local time. All are welcome.
The latest exciting news is that we are currently planning our first activities of the year that are designed to introduce young people to Amateur Radio and related technologies. We want to run special event stations, buildathons and continue our succesful amateur licence training programmes all in support of local groups allied to Scouting.
We now can meet in person and we do that on a monthly basis as a matter of routine and we have additional activities planned from time to time. To find out more do get in touch via the contact form on this website.
The primary aims of KARS are
-
-
- to promote and encourage participation in the Amateur Radio Service which is defined to be: “A service of self-training, intercommunications, and technical investigation carried on by amateurs; that is, by duly authorized persons interested in radio technique solely with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest.”
-
- to promote and encourage participation in a wide range of technologies that are contributors to the aim outlined above.
-
- to ally itself with the Scouting movement in the pursuit of its aims yet remain entirely independent as an unincorporated member association.
