Moose is a simple electronic Morse oscillator (STEM) kit designed to give young people a first experience in electronic construction. By offering a choice of audio tone frequency it requires design input from the scout and provides learning opportunities about electronic component selection, graphing and concepts of frequency measurement.
Moose is based on the standard 555 timer integrated circuit and uses a minimum number of components to achieve its purpose. It requires 30 soldered connections to be made and can be completed in a single two hour session.
