Radio Scouting in action at the Auchtergillian Jamborrette

Kingdom Amateur Radio Society  through Radio Scouting provides educational activities directed at both young people and adults who are thinking of developing their intersts, skills and knowledge in the fields of Radio Communications and Electronics design and engineering.

Basic Electronic Construction Project
Basic Electronic Construction Project

We are keen to introduce a range of technology based activities and ‘making’ skills to members of the scouting movement from cubs through to explorers.    We offer support to leaders who want to develop their own skills and knowledge  too.  Of course we can help with specific badges including Communications, Science, and STEM (now STEAM).  We can provide practical experience of communicating with radio equipment and by using our full classroom set of electronics construction tools we encourage young people to build simple electronic circuits like the one shown (The ELK, or Electronic Logo Kit).

In the past we have provided support to the Blair Atholl Jamborrette, Auchtergillian Jamboree and have run a number of Jamboree on the Air events.  Although after 20 years we have lost our permanent home and fully fitted training facility at Fordell Firs, we now organise ourselves as a “virtual” group and we can visit local groups to provide our range of activities.

Our next event is the Rosyth District Skills Day on 11th September 2021 starting at 9.30am. We will provide the opportunity to make local contacts via Amateur Radio, hear  in real time how international amateur radio sounds,  demonstrate Morse Code and explain how it is still used, give the opportunity ot make a simple working electronic circuit and provide details of our badge activities and arrangements for Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) on 16th and 17th October and how to attend.

Please use the contact form below if you are interested and we will try and get back to you as soon as possible.
